Best n8n hosting in 2026: 6 options compared on price and setup

By the serverserv team · 7 min read · Updated

The best n8n hosting depends on how many workflows you run and how much server work you want to do. n8n Cloud is the easiest, but it charges by execution, from $24 a month for 2,500. Self-hosted n8n on a VPS has no execution limit and costs roughly $9 to $24 a month for a server with 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM. This guide compares six popular options side by side, including the price after the first term, and says who each one suits.

Best n8n hosting at a glance

Here are the six options, with the closest plan to a small business setup of 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM.

How we compared

We picked the plan closest to 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM at each provider, because that is a comfortable size for a small business running schedules, webhooks and a few AI steps. We compared the monthly price, the price after any intro offer ends, whether executions are capped, and how much server work you do yourself. serverserv is one of the options, and we say where others are cheaper.

The 6 options in detail

n8n Cloud: easiest, but priced by execution

n8n Cloud is run by the company that makes n8n. You sign up and start building, with no server, updates or backups to think about, and you get features that Community Edition does not include. The catch is the execution cap: Starter allows 2,500 executions a month and Pro allows 10,000 for $60 a month on monthly billing. One workflow that runs every 15 minutes uses about 2,900 executions a month on its own.

Best for: low volumes, or teams that need SSO and shared credentials without a licence of their own.

serverserv: n8n pre-installed, no renewal surprises

serverserv installs n8n Community Edition on your own KVM VPS, so you open it in your browser, create your owner account and start building. Executions are not capped, and there's no renewal price jump: you renew each term at the price you paid. If a price ever has to change, we'll email you at least 30 days before. You can pay monthly with no upfront commitment, or save with a 1, 2 or 3-year term. Plans go from 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM up to 18 vCPU and 96 GB RAM.

Two honest trade-offs. Hostinger's intro price gets you more RAM per dollar for the first term. And as with any self-hosted n8n, Community Edition does not include n8n's paid features such as SSO and shared credentials.

Best for: businesses that want self-hosted n8n without setting up a server, and don't want a price jump at renewal.

Hostinger: lots of RAM for the intro price

Hostinger offers an n8n template on its KVM VPS plans. KVM 2 gives 2 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 100 GB NVMe for $8.79 a month at the intro price, paid upfront. It renews at $14.99 a month, and KVM 1 (1 vCPU, 4 GB RAM) goes from $6.49 to $11.99. After the template installs n8n, you handle updates, security and backups yourself.

Best for: people comfortable running a Linux server who want the most RAM for the money and can pay for the term upfront.

Elestio: managed open-source hosting

Elestio deploys n8n on a dedicated VM at a cloud provider you choose and handles updates, backups and monitoring. Its smallest plan is 2 CPU, 4 GB RAM and 60 GB for about $16 a month. Billing is hourly from prepaid credits, and you keep paying while a service is powered off; only deleting it stops the charges.

Best for: people who want n8n managed for them and are happy with prepaid, usage-style billing.

DigitalOcean: a well-known cloud, more work for you

A DigitalOcean Basic Droplet with 2 vCPU and 4 GB RAM costs about $24 a month. You install n8n yourself, usually with Docker, then set up HTTPS, updates and backups. Backups and managed databases cost extra.

Best for: developers who already use DigitalOcean and want n8n next to their other services.

Sliplane: n8n as a container

Sliplane runs Docker containers on servers it manages for you, and n8n is one of its ready-made apps. Pricing is per server, from €9 a month, and you can run more than one app on the same server.

Best for: developers who like containers and want to run n8n next to other small apps.

What does n8n hosting cost over 3 years?

Intro prices make hosting look cheaper than it is. Over three years, the renewal price matters as much as the first bill. These totals are for the plans in the table above.

OptionHow the 3 years are billed3-year total
serverserv n8n StarterOne 3-year term at $10.99 a month$395.64
Hostinger KVM 224 months at $8.79, then 12 months at $14.99About $391
Elestio, 2 CPU / 4 GBAbout $16 a monthAbout $576
n8n Cloud Starter$20 a month on annual billing$720, with 2,500 executions a month
DigitalOcean, 2 vCPU / 4 GBAbout $24 a monthAbout $864, before backups

The Hostinger total assumes a 24-month intro term and renewal at its listed $14.99, and the actual renewal price depends on the term you pick. Paying monthly costs more everywhere: serverserv n8n Starter on monthly billing is $14.99 a month, or $539.64 over three years, with no upfront payment.

What to look for in n8n hosting

  • RAM: 2 GB runs simple workflows, but 4 GB is a safer start once you add AI steps, larger files or many items per run.
  • Execution limits: self-hosted n8n has none. Hosted plans that count executions can get expensive as schedules and webhooks add up.
  • The price after the first term: many VPS hosts renew at about 1.7 to 2.2 times the intro price. Read the "renews at" line.
  • Who does the server work: updates, HTTPS, security and backups take time if you do them yourself. Our guide to securing an n8n server covers the basics.
  • Where your data lives: on self-hosted n8n, workflows, credentials and execution data stay on your own server.
  • The licence: n8n Community Edition is free for your own internal business use under the Sustainable Use License. Hosting n8n for clients to build their own workflows needs an agreement with n8n.

Which n8n hosting should you choose?

  • You run only a few workflows and never want to see a server: n8n Cloud Starter.
  • You want self-hosted n8n set up for you, with a price that does not jump: serverserv n8n hosting.
  • You are comfortable with Linux and want the most RAM per dollar: Hostinger KVM 2, on a term you can pay upfront.
  • You want updates and backups handled and like hourly billing: Elestio.
  • Your other services already run there: DigitalOcean or Sliplane.

Questions

What is the best n8n hosting?

It depends on volume and how much server work you want. n8n Cloud is easiest for low volumes. For unlimited executions without setting up a server, a VPS with n8n pre-installed, such as serverserv n8n Starter at $14.99 a month, is a simple choice.

What is the cheapest way to host n8n?

Self-hosting n8n Community Edition on a small VPS is cheapest, from about $6 to $11 a month. Compare the renewal price as well as the intro price, because many hosts charge more after the first term.

How much RAM does n8n need?

n8n runs on 2 GB RAM for simple workflows. 4 GB is a safer start if you use AI nodes, large files or many items per run.

Is self-hosted n8n better than n8n Cloud?

Self-hosted n8n has no execution limit and keeps your data on your own server, so it is usually cheaper above about 2,500 executions a month. n8n Cloud needs no server work and includes paid features such as SSO.

Can I move from n8n Cloud to my own server?

Yes. Export your workflows as JSON from n8n Cloud, import them on the new server, then add your credentials again.
