How much does a domain name cost?
The table shows the first-year, renewal and transfer price per year in USD for each extension. Checkout shows the final price, including any tax, before you pay. Prices in USD.
Which domain extension should I choose?
serverserv currently sells .com, .net, .org, .ca, .xyz, .top and .shop. The others above are general advice on choosing an extension.
Are .ai domains worth it for AI projects?
A .ai domain tells visitors your product is about AI, and Google treats .ai as a generic extension, so a .ai site is not tied to one country in search results. .ai is the country code of Anguilla, and its registry requires a 2-year minimum registration.
serverserv does not sell .ai domains yet. Most registrars charge about $80 to $160 a year for .ai, and the first bill covers 2 years. You can register a .ai elsewhere and point it at an OpenClaw server or an n8n server here, or pick a .com, .xyz or .shop in the same checkout.
How do I transfer a domain to serverserv?
- Check that the domain was registered or last transferred more than 60 days ago.
- Unlock the domain at your current registrar by turning off its transfer lock.
- Ask your current registrar for the authorization (EPP) code.
- Make sure the domain's contact email is current, because transfer emails go there.
- Search for the domain above, press Transfer and enter the EPP code at checkout.
- Approve the transfer if your current registrar emails you, then wait for it to complete.
A domain cannot move for 60 days after it is registered or transferred; this lock is set by registry rules. Most transfers complete within 5 to 7 days, and sooner if you approve the request at your current registrar.
Your website and email stay online during the transfer as long as you keep the same DNS settings. For most generic extensions such as .com, .net and .org, the transfer adds a year to your registration, so the transfer price covers that year. Some country extensions, such as .uk, transfer without adding a year. If your domain expires within the next week, renew it first and transfer it afterwards.
Can I buy a domain and hosting together?
Yes. Register or transfer your domain, then add web hosting, a Linux VPS or business email in the same checkout. You pay one invoice and manage everything from one client area. The domain is billed at the price in the table above, and the hosting plan keeps its own term and renews at the price you paid.
How do I choose a good domain name?
- Keep it short and easy to say and spell.
- Avoid hyphens and numbers, which people forget or mistype.
- Pick .com if it is free, or an extension that matches your project, such as .ai or .dev.
- Check that no one holds a trademark on the name and that the social handles are available.
- Register common misspellings or other extensions if you want to protect your brand.

Is WHOIS privacy included?
Availability depends on the extension, because some registries do not allow privacy protection. Where it is offered, it is shown as an option at checkout.
How do I transfer a domain to serverserv?
Unlock the domain at your current registrar, get its EPP code, then search for the domain on this page, press Transfer and enter the code at checkout. Approve the transfer if your old registrar emails you.
What is an EPP code?
An EPP code, also called an authorization or transfer code, is a password for your domain. Your current registrar gives it to you, usually in its control panel, and you enter it at checkout to prove you own the domain.
How long does a domain transfer take?
Most transfers finish within 5 to 7 days. Approving the request at your current registrar can make it faster.
Does a domain transfer add a year?
Yes, for most generic extensions such as .com, .net and .org. The year is added to your current expiry date, so you lose no time you already paid for. Some country extensions, such as .uk, transfer without adding a year.
What happens if my domain expires?
We send renewal invoices before the expiry date. If a domain expires, its website and email stop working until it is renewed. Grace and redemption periods, and their fees, depend on the extension; see our domain registration terms.
What is the difference between a domain and hosting?
The domain is your address on the internet, such as yourname.com. Hosting is the server space where your website or app runs. You need both for a website, and you can buy them in one checkout.
