Ways to pay for hosting: cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal
By the serverserv team · 5 min read · Updated
serverserv accepts several payment methods so you can pay the way that suits you, wherever you are. This guide explains each option, how checkout works in the client portal, and a few habits that make invoices and renewals painless.
The payment methods you can use
At checkout you can choose from these methods:
- Cards through Stripe: Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
- Apple Pay and Google Pay, also through Stripe, when your device and browser support them.
- PayPal, using your PayPal account.
The checkout page lists the methods available for your order. If the method you want is not shown, ask our billing team before you pay.
Paying step by step in the client portal
- Choose a product and plan on this website, then pick a billing term: monthly, or 1, 2 or 3 years. The plan card shows the amount billed for the term you select, and the pricing page compares every product.
- Press the order button. You are taken to the serverserv client portal with the plan in your cart.
- Sign in, or create an account with your name, email and billing details. Use accurate details, because they appear on your invoices.
- Choose the options in the order form, such as the operating system for a VPS, or add a domain to the same order.
- Select your payment method and complete checkout. Cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay are confirmed in the Stripe payment form or prompt. For PayPal you are sent to PayPal's page to approve the payment, then returned to the portal.
- Once the payment is received and any order checks are complete, your invoice is marked paid and the service is set up. Your login details are emailed to you and shown in your client area.
Invoices, renewals and saved payment methods
- Monthly plans are billed every month. 1, 2 and 3 year terms are billed once for the whole term at checkout.
- When a term ends, the service renews for the same term at the same price you paid. If that price ever has to change, you are emailed at least 30 days before the renewal date. To switch term, contact billing before the renewal date.
- Invoices are created before the due date and sent to your account email. A saved payment method may be charged automatically on the due date.
- If you pay with a method you approve each time, such as PayPal, open the invoice in your client area and pay it before the due date.
- An invoice left unpaid after its due date can lead to suspension and later termination of the service, with its data deleted.
- Managed VPS has a one-time $10 setup fee on monthly billing only. Setup is free on every 1 to 3 year term and on all other products.
The full rules are in our Terms of Service, and common billing questions are answered on the FAQ page.
Habits that save trouble later
- Keep the transaction ID. PayPal and card payments both give you a reference. Save it until the invoice shows as paid.
- Download your invoices from the client area for your accounts or tax records.
- Keep your email address current. Renewal invoices and reminders go to your account email.
- Check your saved card. If the card on file expires, update it before your next renewal.
- Pay only through the client area. If an email asks you to pay somewhere else, sign in to your client area and check the invoice there first.
Questions
Which payment methods does serverserv accept?
Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe, plus PayPal. Checkout shows the methods available for your order.
My payment went through but the invoice is still unpaid. What should I do?
Do not pay again. Open a billing ticket from your client area with the transaction ID and our team will check the payment.
Will my plan renew automatically?
When a term ends it renews for the same term at the price you paid. If a price ever has to change, we'll email you at least 30 days before. A renewal invoice is created before the due date, and a saved payment method may be charged automatically. You can cancel from the client area before it renews.
